Project Description

Paint and Handy carried out a comprehensive three-day hallway and bedroom redecoration project in Catford, London delivering a calm, elegant interior through careful planning, premium materials, and meticulous workmanship.

The objective was to refresh the existing spaces while introducing warmth, depth, and continuity through a thoughtfully curated colour palette from Little Greene and Farrow & Ball.

The project began with thorough preparation throughout both areas. All walls, ceilings, and woodwork were inspected, filled, and sanded where necessary to correct minor imperfections and ensure smooth, uniform surfaces.

Paint and Handy is very particular in ensuring that the property remains fully protected and clean, while the works are carried out. Floors, fixtures, and fittings were fully covered prior to painting, allowing work to be completed cleanly and efficiently with minimal disruption to the household.

In the bedroom, a tranquil and refined atmosphere was achieved using SILT 40-Intelligent Matt Emulsion on the walls. This soft, earthy tone provides subtle warmth while maintaining a modern, restful feel ideal for a sleeping space. The ceiling was finished in SLIPPER SATIN 2004-Estate Emulsion, a very-matt finish that gently diffuses light, reducing glare and enhancing the overall sense of height and calm within the room. All bedroom woodwork-including skirting boards, door frames, and architraves-was painted in OBSIDIAN GREEN 216-Intelligent Eggshell, creating a bold yet elegant contrast that frames the space and highlights its architectural details.

The hallway was designed to feel cohesive, welcoming, and visually connected to the rest of the property. Both walls and ceiling were painted in STIRABOUT 300 – Dead Flat Matt by Farrow & Ball, resulting in a beautifully soft, velvety finish that absorbs light evenly and gives the corridor a sophisticated, seamless appearance.

The woodwork was completed in CORDOBA 277-Intelligent Eggshell, providing a durable and subtly reflective finish that enhances the crisp lines of doors and skirting while standing up to daily foot traffic.

Throughout the project, precision painting techniques were employed, including sharp cutting-in, even roller application, and careful attention to junctions between colours and finishes. Particular care was taken to maintain clean lines and consistent coverage across all surfaces, ensuring the final result felt balanced and professionally executed.

As with all Paint and Handy projects, the work was completed with respect for the client’s home. Each day concluded with tidy working practices, and upon completion the spaces were fully cleaned and dust-free-leaving behind only a polished, high-quality finish.
