- Lower walls fully tiled with Topps Tiles Zellica Forest Green Tiles (6cm x 24cm)
- Finished with a brushed brass straight edge trim
- Tiling set with graphite-coloured grout for added depth and definition
Project Description
Paint and Handy delivered a stunning refurbishment of a compact WC in a residential property in Kidbrooke, South East London. The request from the client was to make the WC one of the best rooms in the house. They are used by the guests and wants to make it really good. We proposed a mix of traditional tiling and contemporary finishes, creating a small room that feels both refined and characterful.
Preparation began with a full strip-out of the existing finishes, followed by plaster repairs to ensure a clean and even substrate for both paint and tile. Careful masking and priming were carried out to protect original features and provide optimal adhesion for the new materials.

A key design feature of the project was the installation of Topps Tiles’ Zellica Forest Green ceramic tiles (6x24cm), laid in a vertical stacked pattern for a clean, modern effect. The handmade look and rich glaze of the tiles introduce depth and movement across the lower half of the walls. Graphite coloured grout was selected to give the tonal contrast, while a brushed brass straight edge trim provides a crisp transition between tile and paint.
The upper half of the walls and ceiling were finished in Farrow & Ball’s Modern Emulsion in Calamine No. 230—a soft, modern pink with warm undertones that softens the room’s geometry and balances the deep green tilework.
The paint was applied with care to maintain even coverage and avoid roller marks, especially in the room’s natural light.
The final fit included a compact white vanity unit and concealed plumbing for a streamlined finish. The existing pendant fitting was retained but cleaned and repositioned for symmetry. Subtle detailing such as neatly aligned tile edges, uniform grout lines, and a polished finish around the window reveal demonstrates the high level of craftsmanship throughout the space.
